After an unexpected off day due to bad weather, the WMGA Senior Team Matches resumed today and round two was wrapped up. There were far more close matches today than in round one, last Saturday.
In Division 1, Hobbits Glen edged Argyle by a score of 6 1/2 to 5 1/2. Hobbits is in control of that division. Evergreen CC took out Amy Navy 7 1/2 to 4 1/2 and CC of Fairfax defeated Loudoun 7 to 5. Evergreen is on top of that division. Washington Golf leads in Division 3. No matches have been close in Division 4 and the match-up next weekend of International and Belmont will decide the division winner. Congressional has the advantage in Division 5 and a win over Springfield will clinch the division. Woodmore, 2-0, has control of Division 6 after a big win against Breton Bay and their upcoming match against Chartwell, 1-1, will tell the tale. Breton Bay opened back up this weekend after being closed for the week in the aftermath of the tragic U. S. Army Black Hawk crash which claimed the life of one crew member and left two others seriously injured. Division 7 winner is up in the air for now. Old South has the advantage but this division is going down to the wire. Both Old South and The Golf Club at South River are developing as powers to be reckoned with. The division 8 final between Chantilly and Beaver Creek will determine that winner. Division 9 has been clinched by the University of Md GC and will face the winner of Division 8 for the number 8 seed in the final play-offs.
Updates regarding the weekend schedule will be posted soon.
