Annual Randy Reed Award Presented to WMGA Secretary/Treasurer Michael Garr
WMGA Secretary/Treasurer Mike Garr was presented with the annual Randal P. ‘Randy’ Reed Award at the associations end of the year Executive Committee meeting at the Army Navy CC on December 28. Garr has served the WMGA for nearly twenty years. He became the Secretary/Treasurer after serving as President in 2014 and 2015. Prior to that he was one of the Directors.
In 2015 the association established the award, presented annually to one of its volunteers for “Outstanding Contributions to the Game of Golf and for Significant Efforts in supporting the mission of the Washington Metropolitan Golf Association.” In addition to serving in the aforementioned roles, Garr helped organize and lead our WMGA junior golfer team in the annual WMGA Williamson Cup Match, along with Past President Bill Kost and current Vice-President Hae Han, traveling to Canada and across the Northeast each summer. The WMGA has dominated the Williamson Cup Match for the last several years, including victories in 2021, 2022, and 2024. WMGA players have won the individual medal in five of the last six years. His dedication and service to the organization, especially over the last two seasons, has been exceptional, meriting his selection for this honor. Congratulations Mike!
Garr, who resides in Florida for the winter, was ‘Zoomed’ in for the meeting when he was presented the award. He reminded everyone that the temperature was in the low eighties, it was sunny, and the windows in his house were open.
