Winegardner Wins WMGA Senior Amateur at ‘Home”

Tom Winegardner ended his summer tournament schedule with a playoff win at The Cannon Club. Winegardner (71-71), who lives on and is a member of The Cannon Club, outlasted Tucker Sampson of Manor Country Club (70-72) in a one playoff with a birdie 4 to Mr. Sampson’s 5 on the 1st hole. Both men were paired together for the final round and it was Mr. Winegardner’s finish with birdies on 15, 16, and 17 to pull ahead by a stroke but Mr. Sampson’s birdie on the 18th sent these players to a playoff. Following these two in a tie for 3rd was first round leader Terry Reilly (69-74) and Middle Atlantic Senior Champion Vance Welch (72-71).

The Mid Masters Division had another dual with Mr. Adam Argenbright of Hayfields CC and Rob Menefee of Bell Haven CC. Both men played outstanding golf but it was Mr. Argenbright (69-69) with birdies on 15 & 16 on second day which was the difference to Mr. Menefee (71-68). Mr. Matt Paciocco (74-73) took the 3rd place spot.

The Super Seniors had the biggest comeback with Henry Blue coming out victorious. Mr. Blue (74-72) was 6 strokes down making the turn to 1st round leader Tom Grem of Hunt Valley CC but it was Mr. Grem (69-76) who had an 11 on the 10th hole (3 balls in the Penalty Area) who ended up one stroke back after the second round. Mr Mark Boedicker finished 3rd with an even par 72 on the second day.
