Defending Champ makes Final 8 in WMGA Amateur

The Defending Champ, Eddie Coffern V,  is not having an easy road to a repeat. He first had to defeat 2023 Finalist Grant Lester (1 Up) in the first round and then he had an up and comer Liam Howard in the second round 2up. The event did not have extra holes until the last two matches of the round of 16,  2021 Champion Matthew Barnes vs. Charles Young and Aaron Williams vs Ryan Rettberg. Barnes, who won his title on Montgomery CC, was one down going into 18 and when Young made a sloppy bogey 18. Young and Barnes traded shots for shots but neither could get a putt to fall. On the 5th playoff hole, Young made his only bad swing with a tee shot left. The ball came against a tree root, and Young lost the hole. Aaron Williams also closed out Ryan Rettberg on the same 5th hole of their playoff.

Tee times start at 8:00 am Saturday
