USGA Cancels Four More Championships and All Qualifying for Those Still Standing

Monday, May 18, 2020 – Today the USGA today cancelled four more amateur championships for 2020 – the U. S. Senior Amateur, U. S. Women’s Senior Amateur, U. S. Mid-Amateur, and U. S. Women’s Mid-Amateur.  The USGA previously announced the cancellation of six 2020 championships: the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball, U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball, U.S. Senior Open, U.S. Senior Women’s Open, U.S. Girls’ Junior and U.S. Junior Amateur.

This leaves its four oldest championships alive on the schedule – U. S. Open, U. S. Women’s Open, U. S. Amateur, and U. S. Women’s Amateur.  The U. S. Women’s Amateur is scheduled for August 3 – 9 at the Woodmont C. C. in Rockville, Maryland.

ALL qualifying for the remaining four championships has been cancelled, including ‘Final Qualifying’ (formerly known as ‘Sectional Qualifying’) for the U. S. Open.

The Washington Metropolitan Golf Association was scheduled to conduct qualifying for three USGA championships – U. S. Open local qualifying, U. S. Amateur qualifying, and U. S. Mid-Amateur qualifying.
