The WMGA Mid Amateur Championship, originally scheduled for Tuesday, May 26, has been POSTPONED. Due to the uncertainty of the reopening of golf in Maryland, and a finalization of the restrictions and regulations covering golf moving forward, a new date has not yet been selected. Our host club, Montgomery CC, has been extremely accommodating and is working with us on finding a new date later in the season.
It is very likely that the tournament format will be changed to meet the expected restrictions. Possible changes include playing one round instead of two, a one tee start instead of a two tee start, longer intervals between starting times (these two factors eliminate the possibility of completing two rounds in one day), and one player per cart which will reduce the field size from 72 to 60. If the rounds are reduced from two to one the entry fee will be reduced by $25.00 to reflect that change. Additionally the WMGA and the club will have in place health and safety protocols as outlined under the Back2Golf guidelines which have been promulgated by all the major golf associations and golf business groups.
If you are signed up for or will sign up for any other event, your entry will be remain in a ‘pending’ status until we confirm the event will be played. We will not process any credit card transactions or deposit any entry fee checks until the event is a go.
We will continue to update our players via the website and our Constant Contact platform.
